Historic Korean Summit, The Promises Made And A Report Of Reducing U.S. Troops At Region By Trump

After the historic meeting between North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in constant reassurances of one nation between the two countries, who have been at war for decades, have been emerging.

The peace treaty and denuclearization discussions that took place was even praised by President Donald Trump, who is also looking forward to his meeting with the North Korean Leader about the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. If the denuclearization talk goes effectively, he has even proposed to reduce the amount of U.S. troops present in the region as reported by the Times. However, National Security Adviser John Bolton shot down that report, calling it “utter nonsense”. The Department of Defense also denied the statement and South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-Yong released a statement that the report was not true after contacting Bolton on hearing of the alleged statement by Trump. However, it has been insinuated by a source familiar with the conversation between Bolton and Eui-Yong that there could possibly be a reduction in the troops at the region but only until after all the nukes are long gone.

But the summit between the Korean Leaders was very fruitful. An announcement to switch its time zone by half an hour to get back on South Korean time was made by North Korea, a joint permanent liaison office was set up at the North’s border city, Kaesong, and Leader Kim has agreed to President Moon’s proposal to set up liaison offices in Pyongyang and Seoul as well, the two countries created a unified women’s table tennis team, and a report has emerged that the three American detainees held in North Korea have been released. Also, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the North Korean leader at Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital, to strengthen the bond between China and North Korea.
