After the request and subsequent denial for a deposition on President Donald Trump by Daniel’s lawyer, Michael Avenatti, to testify and Trump denying having any affiliations with the adult star or having any knowledge of the $130,000 hush money payment to Daniels’ by his personal lawyer, he has finally commented on the Daniel’s case. He said on Thursday that although Cohen handles very little of his affairs, he is representing him in the “crazy Stormy Daniels’ deal”. Trump on April 18 had also faced the released sketch by Daniels’, on April 17, of the man who allegedly attacked her calling it a “total con job”. Daniels’ released the sketch after claiming she was approached by a man in Las Vegas who threatened her daughter and told her to “forget the story” and “leave Trump alone”. The incident, she claimed, happened after her interview with InTouch which she states she did only due to her ex-husband’s push of the story to the magazine.
Stormy Daniel, real name Stephanie Clifford, is now suing Trump for defamation. Her lawyer, Avenatti wrote in the lawsuit, which would result in payments exceeding $75,000 in damages, that “by calling the incident a ‘con job,’ Mr. Trump’s statement would be understood to state that Ms. Clifford was fabricating the crime and the existence of the assailant, both of which are prohibited under New York law, as well as the law of numerous other states”. It is also written that the story was pushed through without her consent. However, two sources who claim to have known about the event told CNN that it was Daniel’s manager, Gina Rodriguez, who pushed the story for Daniels’. This lawsuit is separate from the one already filed against Trump for not signing the alleged contract concerning her silence on the affair she claims she had with Trump in 2016.
